Mort Künstler. For the first time, legendary artist Mort Künstler turns his attention away from the Civil War to capture the majesty of General George Washington during the Revolutionary War.
In the winter of 1777-1778, Washington based his weary troops at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, where the General began working tirelessly to supply his men with the appropriate food, clothing, and shelter. This snowy print depicts a horse-mounted Washington on March 4, 1778, conferring with his confidant Baron von Steuben — as Lafayette and Hamilton look on — about the health and morale of the soldiers. This grueling season represents a turning point for the Revolution, as the army, despite brutal conditions, recognized the relentless effort put in by their leader and vowed their eternal loyalty to Washington.
This incredibly rare, signature edition print — of which only 100 are available worldwide — is signed and numbered by the artist. 25"x 16".
