Directed by Orson Welles, this 1946 film noir thriller co-stars Edward G. Robinson as a War Crimes Commission investigator tracking down notorious Nazi war criminal Franz Kindler (Welles), a mastermind of the Holocaust who escaped to America following World War II and assumed a new identity in a sleepy New England town. When the investigator releases a former Nazi comrade of Kindler, hoping he will lead him to the fugitive, the noose begins to tighten in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. Co-stars Loretta Young.
