Successfully accomplishing its first launch on August 30, 1984, Space Shuttle Discovery had finished its last mission on February 24, 2011 after 39 total trips into outer space. On October 29, 1998, it carried former astronaut Senator John Glenn and the first Spanish astronaut Pedro Duque to retrieve satellites, as well as study the effects of weightlessness on the human body. After the nine day mission was complete, they had orbited the earth 134 times and traveled a total of 3.6 million miles.
This 1/200 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master hand-painted replica of the Space Shuttle Discovery, as it appeared on October 29, 1998, features engraved panel lines, a well-appointed space lab interior, opening bay doors, a poseable robotic arm (Shuttle Remote Manipulator System Canadarm), authentic pad-printed markings, and a display stand. 9" long.
