 Detailed Description
Stan Stokes. The Brewster F2A Buffalo was the U.S. Navy's first monoplane fighter, and, after its 1939 introduction, also began export to other European nations. By the time the United States entered World War II in December of 1941, however, the aircraft was nearly obsolete, removed from front line service by the RAF during the Battle of Britain — it was unable to compete with the more versatile Bf 109. It would also fare poorly for American forces during the Battle of Midway. The Buffalo did, on the other hand, find success with the Finnish Air Force as they faced the less advanced aircraft and less experienced aviators of the Soviet Union. This limited edition print depicts Air Master Sergeant Eino Juutilainen — the top-scoring Finnish ace of World War II — piloting his Buffalo, a warbird in which achieved 33 of his 94 kills, against invading Soviet P-40s. Signed by the artist! 16"x 11½".
