Driven by both the Wehrmacht and the Waffen SS, the Kubelwagen, or "Bucket Car," was conceived in 1938 when Hitler approached Ferdinand Porsche with the idea of developing a mass-production light military vehicle. It was manufactured from 1940-1945 with more than 50,000 units built, and became as integral for the Nazis as the Jeep was for the Allies. In 1969, Volkswagen released a civilian-use model known in America as the "Thing."
This 1/43 scale, die cast model of the recognizable German vehicle features textures surfaces, a glazed windshield, a well-equipped interior, an open top design, plenty of simulated accessories, realistically treaded tires, authentic markings from the Ukraine in 1944, and a display stand with a clear plastic cover. Measures approximately 3½" long.
