The USS Detroit, laid down in November of 1966, was a combat support ship that served the Navy for thirty-five years. After entering service in March of 1970, she spent three tours of duty in the Mediterranean with the 6th Fleet, including refueling the USS Saratoga on its way to Vietnam.
This 1/700 scale plastic kit of the long-serving warship features a choice of full hull or waterline construction, an engraved deck, detailed upper-works, full weapons suite, ship boats and cranes, refueling booms, a helipad, two CH-46 and two MH-60S aircraft (with optional extended or folded rotors), numerous photo-etched parts (including vertical ladders, railings, helipad nets, crane arms, and other accents), historic markings, and a nameplate display stand.
