The M4 Sherman was the most popular battle tank used by the Allies during World War II and saw numerous variants with a total of almost 50,000 units manufactured. It was reliable and mobile, first seeing action in North Africa in 1942, and remained in service with the United States military until 1955. It is still in operational duty in some nations around the world.
