One of the more successful German U-Boats of the Second World War, the U-26 was originally commissioned in May of 1936. The Type IA submarine was chiefly used as a training vessel, though she was called into combat duty in 1940. The U-26 immediately began laying mines and sank a series of merchant and war ships. She was also the first U-Boat to enter the Mediterranean Sea, and finished the war with a total of eleven ships sunk.
This 1/350 scale, die cast replica of the historic vessel features a finely textured superstructure and deck surfaces, an accurate color scheme, detailed rudders and propellers, realistic surface weapons, a unique cutaway design that reveals the interior weapons including torpedoes, authentic markings from 1940, and a commemorative nameplate display stand. Measures approximately 7¾" long.
