Dubbed by some as the "Wildcat's Big Brother," the F6F Hellcat was an effective, carrier-based fighter introduced in the middle of World War II. The VMF(N)-541 "Bat Eyes," a Marine Squadron that began combat in September of 1944, flew the advanced F6F-5N Hellcats — a night fighter variant — and were credited with 22 aerial victories in the Pacific.
Part of Hobby Master's top-of-the-line Premium Collection, this 1/32 scale, die cast model is a replica of an F6F-5N Hellcat as it appeared with VMF(N)-541 while stationed at the mysterious Ulithi Atoll. It features engraved panel lines, colorful nose art (the Bat Eyes were the first wartime Marine Squadron allowed to paint their warbirds), an opening canopy, a well-equipped cockpit, a removable pilot figure, foldable wings, a rotating propeller, a detailed radial engine, full weapons complement, optional-position landing gear, and authentic markings. Measures approximately 12¾" long with a 16¼" wingspan.
