Commissioned in April of 1941, the DKM Tirpitz was a Bismarck-Class battleship serving extensively with the Kriegsmarine during World War II. In September of 1943, she bombarded Allied positions in Spitzbergen, marking the first and only time she used her main battery in an offensive role. In November of 1944, British Lancasters attacked the DKM Tirpitz, causing it to quickly capsize, killing between 950 and 1,204 men.
