A Civil War-era submarine used by the Confederates, the CSS H.L. Hunley was the first combat submarine to sink an enemy warship (despite not being completely submerged at the time). During both of her test-runs in 1863, she sank, killing a total of 13 crew members — including her namesake and creator, Horace Lawson Hunley, not officially in the military at the time. She was retrieved each time and, on February 17, 1864, she destroyed the USS Housatonic, shortly thereafter sinking again, for the final time.
A stunning replica of the U.S. sub, this 1/35 scale plastic kit features realistic surface details, numerous photo-etched parts, authentic markings, and a display stand. Assembly required. Skill level 2. Measures approximately 12¾" long.
